Applications are invited for a fully-funded full-time studentship to investigate from an interdisciplinary perspective physical fitness, technical skill and psychological profiles in elite male youth basketball teams. The anticipated objectives are:
- To critically evaluate the physical fitness tests, technical skill assessments and psychological tools used previously in research with youth basketball players;
- To identify during competition the time-motion demands and key performance indicators of elite male youth basketball;
- To synergise the findings from objectives 1 & 2 in order to compile (or develop) the most appropriate fitness, skill and psychological test protocols for use in elite male youth basketball teams from age group U12 to age group U18;
- To implement the fitness, skill & psychological test battery in high ranking and low ranking national U12 to U18 age group squads in order to make applied contribution to enhancement of both youth coaching and youth player performance.
This will be an interdisciplinary, applied investigation of elite level youth basketball with anticipated outcomes that should be directly relevant to enhancing both youth coaching and player performance.
